Developed by prime Bungie, the original Halo games are still considered one of the best in the franchise and Halo Studios (Formerly 343 industries) was working with a mod team ‘Digsite’ to restore cut content. These included multiplayer maps and more content from the original game.

First appearing on 4chan, the post titles ‘Halo Digsite Archive’ posted links to all the development builds, tools, and internal documents by Bungie from 1998 to their final work at Microsoft. This gives modders a lot of power in hand to create their own build from Halo.

No Signs of the leaker

At the moment, it is unknown who leaked the data. Digsite allegedly did not receive any payment from Halo Studios for their work and many people recently parted ways with the studio, however, a former member claims that none of those people leaked the data.

As one can expect, the data included everything from the process of how Bungie made level and environment design, gameplay elements and even included their tech manual. Since the data is too much, new things are still being uncovered.

Modders are already known to create some incredible things and within days of getting their hands on the leaked data, they have made the 1999 Halo demo fully playable on PC. As for what happens next is to enjoy what the modders make of the data.

Halo Studios have recently shifted to Unreal Engine for their future instalments and rumours were that they are also working on remakes of old halo games, maybe fans will get to see the cut content added to those remakes too.
