Halo Infinite is officially getting a third person mode in multiplayer. This is the first time ever any Halo release has received a third person mode. The announcement came during the ongoing 2024 Halo World Championship, with the developers revealing that the third person update will be available next month, November.

The news comes as a huge deal for the Halo franchise in general, as it was mainly considered as a first-person shooter. Every game previously was strictly a first-person shooter. Adding a third person mode make things interesting as players will have more awareness of the environment in general, which isn’t really needed.

Halo Infinite in general did not have a great reception on launch due to lack of gameplay features like maps, modes and most important of all, Forge. One aspect that is eating up fans is that how will all of this work out, considering a new mode might divide the already lower player count.

As revealed during the Forge Developer Panel, the third person will be coming first to firefight in a future update, but can also be added to other popular modes. Players will be able to switch to third person, and the person mode can also be implemented as a mechanic in various game modes.

Fan reaction to Halo in third person

A lot of the people seem quite excited about this addition, with many asking the third person mode for the campaign to see Master Chief in action. However, the final verdict will only be available after player get their hands on this mode.

There are also a few who do not seem to like the idea of Halo being a third person and said that the developers are turning the game into Fortnite. Although, one thing it will let players do is finally see the drip they have equipped, as the game does contain a very decent customization.
