Marvel Rivals players have now found an issue with the game that puts gamers with low FPS at a disadvantage. So instead of a skill issue, players might be having a hardware issue if their PCs are a bit older or if they simply like to play at low frames for some reason.
The disadvantages were quite apparent in a comparison video put together by Reddit user ‘nyin_’ where gamers can see a clear difference between various actions performed in 30 fps compared to 160 fps across different heroes.
While it’s common knowledge that having as many frames in a competitive game like Marvel Rivals will put players at a huge advantage, the situation here is a bit different. As shown in the video, the damage for Wolverine, Magik’s dash, and even Venom’s movement is affected by low fps, making people wonder what made the developers tie game physics to the frame rate.

At the moment, it is currently unknown if the actions are actually tied to the frame rates or if it is simply a bug, as NetEase is yet to address this issue. Whatever the case may be, one thing is clear: players aren’t very happy with this discovery.
While Marvel Rivals saw a massive launch, there were a few complaints regarding the optimisation for the game. Despite having a decent rig, players were complaining about several instances of fps drops, particularly with Doctor Strange’s portal or if there are a lot of effects or destruction on screen.
“Well damn, now I’m wondering how many times I died or failed to get a kill because my rig is old af,” one user said, while a lot of others expressed a similar sentiment. Some even joked that players with low fps can counter high fps players by simply using Doctor Strange. “If I can't get FPS, then by the Eye of Agamotto no one will,” another user joked.
