The secret Japanese IP revealed during the Xbox Developer Direct turned out to be the revival of the Ninja Gaiden series. “To all the ‘Master Ninja’ around the world, after more than 10 years, the wait is finally over. We’re excited to announce Ninja Gaiden 4, a new mainline entry in this high-speed action series, where you become the ultimate ninja and take on relentless enemies in fierce combat,” Fumihiko Yasuda said.

Predictions for the surprise game were miles away from most people. Fans hoping for a Final Fantasy announcement were left disappointed, as many were hoping for a release after multiple teases, especially are Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was set to release on the same date. However, the game is still set to appear on Xbox soon.

Final Fantasy fans left disappointed

Another surprise reveal was a complete remake of the original Ninja Gaiden 2 from 2008 which is available now across various platforms. Those who have an Xbox Game Pass subscription can simply download the game and play.

Players are already jumping on and are impressed by how much the devs have improved the game both visually and mechanically. The gore and carnage aspect has also been kept the same (improved). Although, some are unhappy that the number of enemies are reduced.

With the second game releasing with a remake, there is a chance that other previous entries might also make their way to gamers with improved visuals and gameplay mechanics. But for now, the devs are likely focusing on the next installment in the series making sure it does well enough to warrant another remake and future games.
