inZOI devs strike out Denuvo DRM Photograph: (inZOI Studio)
Krafton’s life sim game ‘inZOI’ by inZOI Studio launches in early access on March 28 and ahead of release, the developers have announced the removal of Denuvo DRM. This comes as a result of community concerns regarding the DRM tanking the game’s performance and general concerns about limitations in modding side of the game which the devs promised.
As per the developers, the DRM was intended to stop game piracy, which remains the biggest concern with every game released. However, they ultimately decided to remove Denuvo from the early access release of the game.
“We understand that removing Denuvo increases the risk of the game being cracked and illegally distributed after release. At the same time, we believe it opens up a valuable opportunity: it allows InZOI to become more freely configurable – unlocking new ways for players to shape new experiences for other players,” said InZOI’s game director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim.
More options for the modding community
Life sim games in general are very detailed, and even if something’s missing, it is added in future updates. However, people do love to play on their terms and the modding community can do some incredible things now that Denuvo is removed. It’s not like modding is impossible with DRM, however, it does limit some things players can do.

There are likely some things inside inZOI that come under ‘Non-Modifiable Content’ which hopefully will be respected as the developers did remove the DRM on community request. Gamers have appreciated the quick response on the matter as the game is now a lot closer to having extensive mod support.
The developers have already announced the release of modding tools for inZOI. As per the roadmap, these will be available in May and will allow players to people to create their own content/experiences and tell completely different stories.
