Two years after its launch, Hogwarts Legacy is getting official mod support from its developers. Video game mods are one of the most popular aspects of PC gaming and it was about time the game also gave players what they wanted. This feature will be free of charge and will be available via an update on January 30th.
“We're bringing official Modding Support to Hogwarts Legacy on PC this week, and it's completely free! We're really excited about finally being able to let players conjure the magic for themselves and explore a world of untapped possibilities,” the official announcement revealed.
Why are mods in video games important?
The official mod support allows creators to make some unique experiences and extend the life games’ lives. A prime example of this is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which still boasts a large number of active players despite releasing over a decade ago. In the case of Hogwarts Legacy, mods can work out well for the developers in keeping the players engaged until the sequel is ready.
Another big advantage of official mod support is the ease of use for regular gamers. Even before the official support, players were able to mod the game but had to go through a tedious process. Having a dedicated section for downloading and automatic installation, more players will be encouraged to mod their game.

New Mod browser in Hogwarts Legacy and community reactions
After the game is updated, players can either download mods from an external website or use the dedicated mod browser inside the game to browse and install mods. The in-game mod browser is likely going to be the easiest way to install mods; however, the entire process for external mods will be streamlined for a one-click install.
As one would expect, players are quite happy with the announcement. A community-wide praise is being handed to the developers, with many fans revealing their desire for more content in Hogwarts Legacy. Let’s have a look at what the fans say.
