The 48 out of 49 teams competing at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) are locked in and BGMI fans are left with heartbreak as the Indian team did not receive an invitation for the tournament. This was after multiple speculations regarding the BGMI team getting a slot at the event, however, IHC Esports received the last invite to fill the final slot.
Following back-to-back championship wins by Team XSpark in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024 and Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2024, fans were convinced that there is a good chance that an Indian team will finally play international. Sadly, this will not be the case this year.
The PMGC 2024 featured two invite slots, one for the host region going to Guild Esports directly to the Grand Finals, while the other was a special invite, which as mentioned, went to IHC Esports. One final team will make their way through the Rivals Cup, featuring the best teams from Korea and Japan.

BGMI fans want teams to play international
Since the unban last year, BGMI has taken over the online gaming and esports scene once again in India with various tournaments. One team in particular, Team XSpark, stood out the most after securing the two biggest events of 2024 among hundreds and thousands of BGMI teams, including cheaters.
While there was no announcement from Krafton India or any other official source, fans felt that the team deserved a chance to play among top international teams. Back in 2021, GodLike Esports received an invite to compete at the PMGC 2021 after securing BGIS 2021.
Recently, BGMI fans have demanded that India also get to play in international tournaments, however, as per letsgrowesports, who spoke to officials revealed that this isn’t a possibility in the near future. There can be events like the India-Korea invitational but nothing on international events yet.
