A sad day to be a Hogwarts Legacy fan as a planned DLC expansion for the game is reportedly canceled. Despite the game getting much love from the audience, the decision came after Warner Bros faced a challenging 2024 in the gaming sector. The DLC was planning to add new storylines and other content to the existing game.
As per the individual talking to Bloomberg, the reason Warner Bros. canceled the DLC was the amount of content compared to the existing price. The DLC was yet to be announced so that does lower the blow to all fans a little, but the ongoing restructuring at the gaming division prevented proper focus on the expansion.
A ‘not so good’ 2024 for Warner Bros. Games
2024 was not great for Warner Bros. Two games that had a significant amount of investment from the company failed to perform and were shut down. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had a lot of problems on launch including server issues and a lack of fun content to keep players engaged in a live service game.
Multiverse on the other hand saw a lot of success during the early access. However, the full launch did not go well as the player count started going down with each month. With Season 5, all in-game purchases were discontinued and the game servers will be going down at the end of the season. The game will remain playable offline with all the content. Another game that was stuck in development hell for a very long time ‘Wonder Woman’ was also cancelled.

Sequel for Hogwarts Legacy remains unaffected
With all this unfortunate news surfacing, players do have a silver lining that is the Sequel to Hogwarts Legacy. The game is still well under development with no plans to discontinue as of now. The first game was a massive success with over 30 million sales. This resulted in WB Games giving the sequel the green light. Details, however, are still under wraps.
