Gods Reign returned home from the Southeast Asian qualifier for Perfect World CS2 Shanghai Major 2024 after losing the grand final against Alter Ego. The grand final, however, wasn’t their first loss against Alter Ego, as the team previously dropped to the lower bracket after losing the best of one-in the upper bracket final.

Following a clean sweep, the team dropped to the lower bracket final where they faced another fellow Indian team, True Rippers. The journey for True Rippers was also not easy as the team faced an early upset by Niory Esports. Despite this, they made it to the lower bracket final.

After a lengthy battle between the two, Gods Reign managed to make their way into the grand final to face the Indonesian team who defeated them previously, once again. Things started decent for Gods Reign as they managed to pull a few rounds, making a recoverable situation on the defence side. However, the second half saw Alter Ego with six back-to-back rounds, securing the first game.

A total shutdown by Alter Ego

The second match saw a faint hint of a comeback for Gods Reign before it was shut down by Alter Ego. Gods Reign gave their opponents a decent fight in the first half. The team even started the second half with a bang, but somehow fell off.

Alter Ego once again lined up a streak of round wins to finish the game once and for all, moving into the Asia-Pacific RMR. Apart from Ph1NNN, others in the Gods Reign were not able to match their opponents in terms of firepower. The loss, however, comes as an experience for the team which will allow them to grow.

On the other hand, Alter Ego will now face the likes of FlyQuest, The MongolZ and Lynn Vision Gaming for a chance to compete at the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
