One of the world's most popular game franchises ‘God of War’ will have a new side sequel set to launch this year. According to some strong sources, Sony and Santa Monica Studio are planning to launch a new side story set in Greece for the franchise.
God of War: A New Side Sequel on works
This new story will take ‘Kratos’ back to his home in Greece and the story will be set up there. This will be completely new and doesn't have any links to the storyline of the recently released God of War Ragnarok as it was set in Norse Mythology. Many already speculate that it will be a DLC-like Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales. 'Kratos' back in Greece will be a huge bonus for the fans as the franchise is entering its 20th anniversary. Its first game launched in 2005 on Sony PlayStation 2 and for nearly two decades, it has been the favourite for millions of fans.
But after its recent release, fans called for a reboot and wanted Kratos like he was in the original game. This news was released by an official source called Grubb. He posted “OK. Everyone keeps asking about this, so I've tried to find out more: There's still a Greek God of War thing coming out this year, but it's not a remaster collection. It's a new side-story project.”
He added, “I was never told about a Remaster collection, but I asked a source about the rumours (that I saw were focused on a collection) and they told me that nothing God of War would happen at the State of Play but something could show up at the anniversary.”
Grubb cleared that there are no plans for releasing any remastered edition of the previous games as it will be a completely new one. The last God of War game Ragnarok was released in 2022 and after that, there was no news about its sequel. But Sony has marked the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise with a free Ragnarok update.
