As per a report from stream charts, the highest number of viewers were on YouTube, reaching over 1.2 million. Twitch saw over 400,000 people join the show, while third party streams like IGN, and other popular streamers also pulled in over 100,000 viewers.

This year was also quite special as The Game Awards was also celebrating its 10th anniversary. A new viewership record with the approval from almost the entire gaming community is likely one of the best thing for The Game Awards.

What made The 2024 Game Awards good?

In order to know what made the Game Awards this is so good, we have to look back at the gaming industry this year. Despite the ongoing lay-offs, there were several incredible releases like Astro Bot, Metaphor: ReFantazio, FF7 Rebirth. Indie releases like Balatro and Animal Well were also widely popular.

With fans looking to see if their favourite game is crowned champion, the numbers increased. Another reason is the hype for upcoming games and special announcements. GTA 6 fans have been waiting for over a year for a new trailer and were hoping for something during the show. While it did not happen, people did get to see the new Witcher game trailer and the numbers increased.

Not everyone joined The 2024 Game Awards stream right off the boot. As the show went on with some incredible announcements, more people joined as the word spread about this year’s show not being half bad. Geoff Keighley, joking about last year’s Game Awards and the mistakes, was also a positive message to the community.
