With the Olympic Esports Games getting approval from the International Olympic Committee, it seems there will be some big changes to the direction of the Olympics and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) might be aiming to get racing simulation as part of the Olympic Esports while also pressing for the inclusion of motorsports in Olympics.

If this becomes a reality, Formula One superstar Max Verstappen would likely be the happiest person as not only he is the F1 World Champion, but he is also a hardcore gamer and loves playing SIM Racing with his friends when he is not on track.

How hardcore you ask? Verstappen has his own SIM Racing team and was taking part in an online SIM Racing event Nürburgring 24 Hours alongside everyone and while it may not be a problem usually, it was right before his actual race in the Italian Grand Prix.

To play the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Verstappen had his entire setup shipped to the event. Not only did he participate in both events, he went to secure the win. This was also not a one-time thing, as the same thing happened at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Verstappen was even told not to stay up this late on a Grand Prix Weekend. If this does not convince people that Max is one of us, then nothing will. Adding motorsports and SIM Racing for the same in Olympic Esports will be another opportunity for him to shine.

Will Olympic Esports Games change the direction of Esports?

While the concept for the Olympic Esports Games is good and will create much more awareness, it is also a bit controversial. The Olympics usually have a set of rules that will not allow most of the popular esports titles to be a part of it. However, rumours suggest that dew games like Fortnite, League of Legends, Rocket League Street Fighter, Tekken and others will be a part of the event, making many believe that the rules could be toned down for Esports.

The event will be hosted by Saudi Arabia and by looking at the ongoing Esports World Cup, it is clear they are capable of hosting a decent tournament, thanks to ESL. The gamers aren’t excited yet, but further development on this remains to be seen.
