Electronic Arts (EA) is pulling the plug for its Origin app on PC and Mac; however, the company is shifting all of its operations to the EA app. The user accounts and the game library from the Origin app, which will be decommissioned on April 17, will be transferred to the EA app.
“Your account and games will transfer to the EA app. Log in to the EA app with the same account you use for Origin. When you log in, any games you have on Origin will be ready to play. Games that list in-game hours in Origin will list the same hours in the EA app. Anything you’ve saved through Origin’s cloud will also transfer,” the statement read.
The only things players need to worry about are the games that do not have cloud save features. People playing these games will need to manually move their files in case they want to swap the system they are playing on.
While the transfer is convenient, there is a caveat. The EA app is only available for the 64-bit version of Windows. Those who are still on 32-bit operating systems with old processors may need to upgrade their system after Origin is shut down or they will lose access to their game library.

Moving to the EA app should not be an issue
Considering how long it has been most of the games now require 64-bit systems, this should not be an issue. Overall, the change from Origin to the EA app is simply EA moving away from old things. Besides, the company also claims that the new app has been optimised for a better user experience.
Launched back in 2011, Origin was made by EA to avoid the 30% revenue cut to Steam. The company returned to Steam back in 2019, bringing all of its games along; however, players still need to download their client to access the game, even when purchased on Steam.
