Following a ‘surprise ban’ Marvel Snap servers are back online. The developers behind the game, broke the news to everyone along with a change in publisher to prevent this kind of situation from happening again. The ban was originally handed due to the current publisher ‘Nuverse’ being a subsidy of ByteDance, the company behind TikTok.

As per the developers ‘Second Dinner’, the ban was even a surprise for them. What’s even more surprising is that the original culprit behind all the shenanigans, TikTok, was unbanned in just 12 hours, while the game servers were offline for almost two days.

“MARVEL SNAP is back online in the U.S. But to make sure this NEVER happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. This is the start of a new era for MARVEL SNAP. We know this probably leaves you with even more questions than answers. We appreciate your patience, but in the meantime enjoy playing MARVEL SNAP,” Second Dinner wrote.

The developers also informed us that in-app purchases inside Marvel Snap were having some issues following various complaints and are currently working to resolve the issue. More updates on that will be provided as the team makes progress.

Big more from Marvel Snap developers

The decision to change developers isn’t something to take lightly. Marvel Snap aims to do the same which is possibly due to TikTok unban still being a temporary effort. Nuverse and ByteDance are reportedly under an extension period before they are banned again.

Once this extension period ends before any resolution, TikTok will once again be banned. To prevent that, US President Donald Trump is seeking a 50% ownership position for the US in TikTok. It is up to ByteDance to negotiate and make the decision before the time runs out. This further explains why Second Dinner plans on shifting publishers.
