The Counter Strike 2 (CS2) Shanghai Major grand finals was one of the most intense matches, with Team Spirit taking home the trophy after defeating FaZe Clan. Besides this, Spirit’s star player Donk also became the youngest CS Major winner while breaking a bunch of other records to close the 2024 circuit for CS.
"I dreamt of winning this event for many years. This was the goal of my life, to prove myself. I'm grateful to the team, for how they carried and what they did. To the org and everyone around, I'm incredibly grateful to them. Thanks to all the fans," said the IGL for Team Spirit, Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov on winning the Major.

Donk breaks multiple records at Shanghai Major
Apart from winning the Major at only 17 years of age, Donk broke the record for most amount of ace round in a Major. The previous record was held by ‘flamie’ with three aces during the IEM Katowice 2019, which is not yet broken by Donk, after securing four ace rounds.
He is also the youngest MVP and the highest rated player in a Major thanks to his phenomenal performance. When asked about it during a post match interview, his reply was that he doesn't care, he just wants to play Counter Strike.

One of the best CS2 Major Grand Finals
From multiple clutches to ace rounds, the grand final itself was one of the best example of what peak Counter Strike looks like. The best of three saw Spirit take down Faze in their map pick, however, their opponents were not ready to give them an easy fight. Faze secured the second map without any issues, sending them into the decider.
This is where things got extreme, following a horrible first half, Faze was on their way to make an insane comeback. With ropz securing multiple incredible clutches including a flying AWP no-scope to save the round.
However, the team could not force an overtime, shattering their dream of lifting the trophy. The loss was particularly heartbreaking as Karrigan was planning to dedicate this win to his late brother, who passed away during the RMR.
