Two North American esports teams Cloud9 and Sentinels have now faced defeat at the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Americas Stage 2 playoffs. Both teams started in the knockout round and lost their respective single-elimination bracket match. The loss also comes as a heavy blow for Sentinel fans, who recently secured the Masters Madrid. Fans were excited to see the team back in action.
A shocking loss for Sentinels
After a great run at the VCT Americas Stage 2 Group Stage, the loss does come as a shock. In a best-of-three match against 100 Thieves, the team did not get a chance to make a comeback and went on to lose back to back rounds.
The opening map was Haven by 100T, and they kept their momentum for the entire first half, leaving Sentinels to defend themselves in the second. However, a comeback did not happen. The second map also saw a similar timeline and while there was a brief comeback with 100T one game point, Sentinels failed to take the game into overtime.

Fans on the other hand haven’t lost hope as Sentinels are still a contender for Valorant Champions. If Leviatán manages to secure even a single game in Playoffs, Sentinels will qualify through championship points. Looking at the current momentum of Leviatán, things are not going to be easy for KRÜ Esports.

G2 has 11 points which is less than the 12 points that SEN has, so this is not an option for them
100T has 12 points now which ties SEN but SEN is 2-1 against 100T this year which gives SEN the tie-breaker for Championship points qualification
Cloud9 ends their 2024 Valorant Season
Unfortunately for Cloud9, their loss against KRÜ Esports have resulted in an exit from the 2024 Valorant Season. The game was quite intense as KRÜ went on to secure Cloud9’s map pick on Abyss. However, in response, Cloud9 secured their map pick Lotus.
The team went on to secure 11 rounds in the first half and brought the match to game point early in the second half. KRÜ Esports did make a comeback but failed to take the game into overtime. The final game, however, was utterly dominated by KRÜ Esports to secure the upper bracket semifinals.
