Black Ops 6 has announced another free weekend for online multiplayer and zombies. This comes after the recent Season 2 update that brought various new maps and game modes. The free weekend will start on February 6 and will be active till February 10 providing players with plenty of time to try the game and see if it’s worth continuing.
Free weekends are also a good way to attract new players or those who haven’t tried new Call of Duty games in general. Along with the free trial, Activision is also running a discount on Balck Ops 6, in case someone does decide to make a purchase.
Activision aiming to boost players with season 2 update
Black Ops 6 was one of the biggest launches for Activision with the game helping Microsoft boss Xbox Game Pass sales. The campaign was praised by most of the players while the multiplayer brought back the classic feeling. Sadly, Activision failed to maintain the player count, at least on Steam.
From a peak player count of over 315,000 on Steam launch, the game has now dropped to less than 90,000 a day which is a massive drop. This was due to a surge in hackers which ruined the game for more regular players and Ricochet's anti-cheat failed to keep them in check.
The numbers might be much higher on console since Activision finally listened and added the option to disable crossplay between PC and console players. A majority of the player base is likely playing either on the Xbox or PS5 to avoid cheaters, although it can only be seen as a bandaid move.

What can players access during Black Ops 6 free weekend?
During the free weekend, players will be able to access ten multiplayer maps including two from the latest seasonal update. A total of six core activities Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Kill Order, and Gunfight are available to play across these maps. Along with these, Nuketown 24/7 and Stakeout 24/7 are also made available.
For Zombies, people will be able to access ‘The Tomb’ map which continues the story from previous maps. Players will have access to the ‘Directed Mode’ which can be useful for new players who are just getting into Zombies game mode and have no idea how to complete the main quests.
