Working as the creative director of the game, ‘Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz’, recently sat down with GamesRadar and talked about the scope of the game and how they categorized the game in the current AAA market.

“In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3. Definitely, our games are not as huge in terms of amount of content and gameplay hours - we are a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we definitely are building something smaller. But we want to build something as robust in terms of quality, maybe a bit shorter,” he said.

AAA quality with focus on campaign instead of game time

With ‘The Blood of Dawnwalker’ being the first game for Rebel Wolves the studio wants to make something worth playing. For that, Tomaszkiewicz says they are focusing on the quality of the game rather than a long campaign. He said the studio is aiming for around 30 to 40 hours to complete the game.

While compared to so many other popular RPGs like The Witcher 3 or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the number may look feeble. However, around 40 hours of gameplay is enough if the game manages to hit all the notes. There are many would would find the runtime plenty and enjoyable rather than a bloated game.

A new take on RPG story campaign

The game is set to release across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, although no release date is revealed. People who love fantasy RPGs are already quite excited about the game. While being open-world, the game features a unique take on how players complete the campaign with certain quests moving the in-game timer, the short runtime may even complement what the studio is trying to achieve.
