After a two-year wait that saw Activision Blizzard go through some big changes, BlizzCon is back, although fans will have to wait a bit longer. An official announcement trailer revealed that Blizzard is once again skipping a year and will host BlizzCon 2026 in September. The event will be taking place in Anaheim, California.
While much is yet to be revealed in the coming months, we do have the exact dates for the event. “BlizzCon is back! The ultimate celebration of our games and the community that unites us is returning to the Anaheim Convention Center Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, in 2026,” Blizzard wrote in their statement.
BlizzCon to miss its 20th anniversary
BlizzCon 2025 was supposed to be the 20th-anniversary celebration of the event. It will also be the first time following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The Acquisition saw multiple roadblocks from Sony, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the European Union (EU) over market monopoly which led to Microsoft making several changes.
However, it seems that the company is ready to bring back things fans loved and celebrate its iconic games like Overwatch, WoW, and more. “We’ve come a long way since our first event in 2005. Over the past nearly 20 years since its inception, BlizzCon has inspired us to innovate, push the boundaries of creativity, and deliver once-in-a-lifetime moments. It’s important that we put on an event worthy of our community,” the statement further added.

What can fans expect from BlizzCon 2026?
The event will bring every gamer's love and more as per the statement. Video game discussion panels, local events for both games and cosplay, gameplay demos, and a lot more. Winners of BlizzCon 2023 events will also get free entry since they weren’t able to attend their intended event. All they need to do is contact Blizzard after verification, they should be good to go next year.
“We are building this event just like we build our games: with a deep commitment to our players, with respect for your connections to our universes, and as a celebration of the strength of the bonds formed through shared adventure,” Blizzard promised the community.
