Following an incredible release, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is watching a steady decline in the player count. While the complete date isn’t publicly available, Steam player count reveals a steep drop of more than 60% player count in two months of the game’s release. This comes following weeks of complaints from the community regarding various issues.

Black Ops 6 has the most successful launch in recent Call of Duty history, that goes without saying. The campaign was much better, opening a route for future story expansion in a new game. The CEO of Microsoft revealed that the sales across Steam and PlayStation were up by 60% and the game helped make a new all-time Game Pass subscriber count, so let’s find out what happened.

New Call of Duty, Same Old Problems

Despite being a fresh experience with the new on movement, maps and other additions, the game faced its age-old problem, cheaters/hackers and neglecting the community. While there will be a new Call of Duty game next year, the ones who got the game expecting something new are disappointed.

The game launched to over 315,000 players on Steam and halfway through Season 1, the player count is only reaching 105,000 despite a free week. This is due to the intensity of how content is being introduced, which is also one of the biggest complaints, for Black Ops 6. The long wait period before a ‘big’ seasonal update with almost nothing new is a huge contributor.

Cheating has been a major issue for the community and one of the biggest reasons why players might leave the game. Recently, former CoD pro and popular content creator Nadeshot expressed his frustration regarding the anti-cheat and how till time they fix it, a new game will be on the horizon. Players have also been expressing the same feeling long before but to no avail.

That isn’t to say there aren’t others as the game is available across Xbox Game Pass which is expected to be the majority of its player population, however, Microsoft did not reveal any solid numbers. There is still over a month left for next season. Apart from that, the recent promotional post allegedly using AI-generated images also has the community riled up.
