BGIS 2025; Dates and Format for the biggest BGMI tournament

As the registration for BGIS 2025 begins, Krafton India has now explained the tournament format to everyone. Let's check out how the journey is this year.

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2025 registrations are on and new names are ready to make their mark in the BGMI esports scene. However, before that, they will also have to survive a long onslaught and even go against some of the best teams in the competitive scene. Let’s check out the long journey ahead of everyone.

Open Qualifiers

  • In-Game Qualifiers (January 25 to February 2)

This is where the underdogs will start their race for BGIS 2025. The In-Game Qualifiers will see all the registered teams compete across nine days. Out of all the competitors, only the top 1016 teams will move towards Round 1.

  • Round 1 (February 16 to 23)

1024 teams out of which 1016 will come from open qualifiers and the bottom 8 from The Grind (Group D).

  • Round 2 (February 16 to 23)

512 teams out of which the top 496 will come from Round 1, the top 8 teams from The Grind (Group D), and the bottom eight from The Grind (Group C).

  • Round 3 (March 6 to 9)

256 teams out of which the top 240 will come from Round 2, the top 8 teams from The Grind (Group C), and the bottom eight from The Grind (Group B).

  • Round 4 (March 13 to 16)

128 teams out of which the top 112 will come from Round 3, the top 8 teams from The Grind (Group B), and the bottom eight from The Grind (Group A).

The Grind

Alongside the open qualifiers, there will also be invites to the pros and this is where they will start their run. 64 teams will be divided into four groups with better-performing teams skipping rounds to qualify for the quarterfinals.

  • Week 1 (February 5 to February 8)

Group D will commence week 1 with the top eight teams moving directly to Round 2 and the bottom eight towards Round 1.

  • Week 2 (February 10 to February 13)

Group C will commence week 2 with the top eight teams moving to Round 3 and the bottom eight towards Round 2.

  • Week 3 (February 15 to February 18)

Group B will commence week 3 with the top eight teams moving to Round 4 and the bottom eight towards Round 3.

  • Week 4 (February 20 to February 23)

Group A will commence week 4 with the top eight teams moving to the quarterfinals and the remaining eight towards Round 4.

The Endgame

  • Quarterfinals (March 20 to 23)

This is where the stakes start to get higher as 64 qualifying teams will try to secure the top 16 spots towards the Semifinals (Week 1) while the remaining will move to the Wildcard.

  • Wildcard (March 24 to 27)

This round will also feature 64 teams, 48 from Quarterfinals and the rest from Round 4. The Wildcard will be the last chance for the top 16 to grab a spot in the Semifinals (Week 1).

  • Semifinals Week 1 (March 29 to April 1)

Featuring 32 teams, 16 from Quarterfinals and Wildcard each, will compete in the semis week 1. Here, everyone has a chance to qualify directly to the grand finals, but only the top eight will do, the rest will move to the Semifinals (Week 2).

  • Semifinals Week 2 (April 3 to 6)

The bottom 24 teams get one last shot to make it into the top 8 and compete for the BGIS 2025 title. The rest will return home.

  • Grand Finals (April 18 to 20)

The top eight squads from the Semifinals Week 1 and Week 2 will compete in one final battle to secure the title for best BGMI team and take move a shared prize pool of Rs 2 crore.
