The 2023 Game of the Year winner Baldur's Gate 3 is now available in a completely new form, or at least a part of it. A new mod for Stardew Valley adds a massive expansion inside the game bringing beloved characters from BG3 including Karlach, Shadowheart, and Astarion. The mod is available to download for free at Nexus Mods.

“A new village has recently been built north of Pelican Town, and its new residents seem... rather unusual. You can find the entrance to Baldur's Village at the top of the southern mountain map, right next to Linus' tent,” the mod description reads.

Baldur's Village impresses both BG3 and Stardew Valley community

While adding a few characters along with small interactions is one thing, the scale of Baldur's Village is quite impressive. A complete village section is added along with unique interaction from beloved characters. There’s also a massive questline for everyone’s favorite vampire ‘Astarion’ to romance. The game director for Baldur's Gate 3, ‘Swen Vincke’, also complimented the mod.

“Baldur's Village is a large expansion mod for Stardew Valley, inspired by Baldur’s Gate 3. It introduces a brand-new village map and NPCs while staying true to the game's original atmosphere. Among them, Astarion features a fully developed personal storyline and is available for marriage,” the description further adds.

More Baldur's Gate 3 characters to be added in future

All of this was just the part of initial release as the creators are also planning to add more companion quests and marriage options in the future update. It’s hard to believe all of this is for free, but this won’t be the first time a large-scale mod is released for a game, so never underestimate the modding community.

In order to install the mod, players will need to have SMAPI, Content Patcher, and Portraiture installed. Once done, the Baldur’s Village folder can be added to the Stardew Valley mods folder. After that, the BVportraits folder needs to be added to the ‘Portraits’ folder which will be located inside the mods folder.
