The Saint Lucia Kings have clinched their first title in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 under the captaincy of Faf du Plessis. The winning celebration was crazy as Faf was seen dancing and jumping with his teammates like a teenager. The happiness of winning the first title was pretty much evident in all the players' faces. Moreover, their happiness doubled as they won against the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the defending champions in the tournament.

Faf did a pretty good job in handling the team throughout the tournament and won some crucial games. Moreover, he even scored a century in one of the games, helping his team win the match. From 51/4 by the end of 10 overs to winning the game in the 19th over, the Kings played brilliantly. Even though the target was as low as 139 runs, the match wasn't in their favour for even a minute. However, Aaron Jones rose to the occasion and clinched the victory.

He scored 48 runs off 31 balls, including two boundaries and four sixes, while Roston Chase hit 39 runs off 22 balls with two boundaries and two sixes. Roston was given the Player of the Match award for a magnificent effort during the chase, and Noor Ahmed received the Player of the Series award.

Think 10 or 15 years they have been waiting for the trophy: Faf du Plessis

Saint Lucia Kings have won the trophy after a long wait of 11 years under skipper Faf du Plessis. He expressed his happiness and acknowledged the emotions of Darren Sammy and the other members who have been with the team since the start. The feeling of winning the first trophy always remains special, and the Kings will remember it for a lifetime.

"Happy for the guys, they have been here (Sammy and Co.) for a long time. Think 10 or 15 years they have been waiting for the trophy to come home. Very happy with the bowling effort. At the toss I wasn't quite sure what to do and I felt like when they posted 138, when we walked off we were positive," said Faf du Plessis.
