Assassin’s Creed Shadows' early reviews are all over the place and at the moment, they are very favorable. However, there’s one thing that caught everyone’s attention. The game reportedly features a reward track very similar to a Battle Pass. This aligns with Ubisoft's previously mentioned reward track inside Animus Hub.

The company seems to have followed up on its promise, as everything seems to be free and unlockable simply by playing the game. As revealed by OrdinaryGamers on Twitter, the pass revealed 21 different rewards that players can unlock, including what seems to be an in-game cosmetic. There’s also no timer for the rewards, which removes the FOMO aspect and lets people play when they have time.

Ubisoft delivering on its promise?

Back in 2024, there was a huge uproar regarding a paid Battle Pass in the ‘Animus Hub’ of Assassin’s Creed, a singular hub for everything related to the Assassin's Creed franchise. More details on this are expected to be revealed with the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20th.

Many suspect that the backlash was the reason why Ubisoft made the pass free; considering the company was aiming to win back its audience, it was likely the plan from the start. The assumption came due to the company’s aggressive monetising practices. Regardless, players may finally get a good game out of Ubisoft along with some extra things.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows reviews favoring Ubisoft

A day left for the Assassin's Creed Shadows release and the reviews have been positive, even from some sceptics, showing a silver lining for Ubisoft. It’s likely not Game of the Year material, but those who played the game have described it as mostly fun. A little weaker in the narrative, but the world-building and stealth combat has been praised by almost everyone.
