Assassin’s Creed Shadows recently saw a big delay for Ubisoft to provide players with a better experience, and now a co-op mode is reportedly in development. Although multiplayer was introduced with Brotherhood, the co-op mode came with Unity. Previously, there was no news regarding the same with Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Since the game features two protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, and players already can choose who they want to play, the co-op mode, codenamed LEAGUE, will build upon that, allowing two players to play the game together as each of the characters using their unique abilities.
However, the co-op mode for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is not a result of the delay, instead, it was already planned for a long time, a report from Insider Gaming revealed. The mode was planned to be released post-launch, but the delay might give the development team time to implement the mode and release it on day 1 of the launch.

Fans are wondering how will the co-op work out in a game with two unique characters. Will one go full berserk and the other using stealth, or will players have the freedom to choose how they want to play, regardless of the co-op mode?

A strong competition for Assassin's Creed Shadows in 2025
While the delay does give Ubisoft time to fix some of its mistakes, the new release date of 14 February 2025 is also nothing shorter than a challenge. The same month will see a sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Sid Meier's Civilization, just days ahead of Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Following the release, there are Avowed and Monster Hunter Wilds lined up for the same month. The biggest challenge for them, however, is to match the hype for Ghost of Yotei, the upcoming instalment from Sucker Punch which is also set to release next year.
