A few days ago, Rumours began circulating that Rockstar Games may have revealed the release date for GTA 6. This came after a video game retailer ‘XUruguay’ listed GTA 6 with a September 17 release. The reveal got many fans excited but there was also confusion as the date matched the GTA 5 release date.
Many took this as a sign that Rockstar may be in the mood to celebrate the 12th anniversary of GTA 5 by releasing the most anticipated game of the decade. Sadly, as most expected, the information was not correct and the date was just a placeholder reference to open pre-orders. Although, it’s not hard to see why some people were fooled by the date as Rockstar has come a long way since GTA 5.
GTA 6 has no release date
Clearing the confusion among fans, XUruguay made a post addressing the issue. Here, the retailer clarified that there was no official information regarding the release, and the team used GTA 5 as a reference due to the game's release sometime in Fall 2025 and apologized for any confusion.
“It was not our intention to cause confusion and we want to clarify that we did not receive any official information from any of the Brands regarding the game's release date. Like you, the only rumors we are aware of are that it may be in Fall 2025, but there is nothing officially confirmed and we have no additional information,” the official statement added.

How the GTA 6 Release Date Rumor Started?
Back on January 29, people started noticing the September 17 release of GTA 6 on an online retailer XUruguay. This was something completely new amidst the ongoing rumors and the date would have also been the anniversary of GTA 5, which is why it caught a lot of attention.
When is GTA 6 actually releasing?
With the release date theory debunked, fans are back to square one with no solid release date for GTA 6. At the moment, the only thing confirmed by Rockstar Games is the release window of Fall 2025 which makes the game release anywhere in September, October, or November, unless there is a delay.
