The popularity of Rockstar Games' open world games continues with the business selling 5 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V in only one more quarter. Considering all of the excitement around GTA 6, this is astounding. Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2, two of the earlier titles, are selling like terrific.
Publisher Take Two announced in its most recent financial report that GTA V had sold 215 million units, up from 210 million in the previous quarter. This involves retailers holding physical inventory that hasn't been sold to customers yet. The Nintendo Switch is the lone platform where Grand Theft Auto 5 isn't accessible, but that could change with Take-Two's early February confirmation of support for the Switch 2.
According to Take - Two's most recent financial report, the 2013 sandbox game has sold up to 215 million lifetime units, which was 210 million units a quarter ago. The whole Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold 450 million units throughout the years, with GTA 5 making up about half of those sales.
