India is set to play a 2-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 in Chennai. The Board has announced the team for the 1st Test but made some bold calls in terms of selections. Yash Dayal has received his maiden call-up for the match and will be hoping to make his debut for India in whites. Amidst everything, BCCI dropped Jasprit Bumrah as vice-captain of the test series. Also, they haven't assigned the post to anyone, which has raised eyebrows.

The unofficial reason for dropping Bumrah as Rohit Sharma's deputy is quite clear. Although Bumrah is the best bowler in India in all the formats of the game, his consistency in playing matches is extremely low due to injuries. He suffers a lot of injuries; hence, BCCI only includes him in important series and tournaments. Hence, they might have removed him from the captaincy to keep him burden-free. Moreover, it's surprising that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has included him in the Test series in the first place.

A month earlier, one of the Board members stressed the fact that India needs a fit Bumrah for the New Zealand and Australia series, but they have included him in the upcoming Bangladesh series, which is quite unusual. Fans have assumed that the loss against Sri Lanka due to a lack of experience in bowling attack might have influenced the decision. Whatever the reason might be, Bumrah's fitness throughout the series will concern the team as he's an important player for the NZ and Australia series, and losing his injury will backfire on India.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to team up once again

After India's squad release, Bangladesh's most important concern will be to face Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the 1st Test match in Chennai. The spin wizards of India, Ashwin and Jadeja, are brutal against batters in spin-friendly tracks, and they have played in Chennai throughout their lives.

Also, Axar Patel, who's in brilliant form these days, is also included in the team. Hence, there will be more pressure on the Bangladesh team during the test match. They whitewashed Pakistan in their own backyard and will be looking forward to doing the same against India. The excitement of the Test match has now increased since India have picked up some of the best players in the squad.
