After a string of dreadful outings across formats, the Pakistan cricket team is reuniting for their revamped domestic 50-over tournament - Champions One Day Cup 2024. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced the captains and provisional squads for the competition.

Five teams will participate, each of which will be led by Pakistan greats -  Misbah-ul-Haq (Wolves), Saqlain Mushtaq (Panthers), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Dolphins), Shoaib Malik (Stallions), and Waqar Younis (Lions). It is interesting to note that Sarfaraz Ahmed will play the roles of mentor and keeper-batter with Dolphin.

The tournament is scheduled to be held in Faisalabad from 12th to 29th September 2024. With no international cricket for the Men in Green during this period, the PCB has ensured maximum participation of Pakistan's top players. However, it is learned that Imad Wasim, Azam Khan, and Mohammad Amir have made themselves unavailable due to their commitment to CPL 2024.

All five teams will be led by the country’s high-profile cricketers. Saud Shakeel will lead Dolphins while star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will take care of Lions. All-rounder Shadab Khan has been given the responsibility of Panthers, while Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Rizwan will captain Stallions and Wolves, respectively.
