Besides the astonishing records and amazing milestones, what fascinates the cricket fans most are the fairy tales related to their favourite cricketers and the teams. There have been a lot of fairy tales in the history of cricket that still mesmerize cricket fans. These are the tales which narrate the magical journey of some cricketers from their childhood to the cricket field.
There is also a similar fairy tale that grew in the Australian city of Hobart and it is directly connected to the Big Bash League 2024-25 champions Hobart Hurricanes.

There used to die-hard cricket fan, a young kid in Hobart, who in his teenage never missed any home game of the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. He was always there in all the matches of the Hobart Hurricanes whenever the side played at their home venue in BBL.
Cut to the next couple of years, the kid turned 23 and happened to be the opener of Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League 2024-25. He also ended up being the leading run-scorer in the entire 2024-25 edition. That young fan has now the record of scoring the fastest-ever century in the tournament’s final in the history of BBL.
Now, you may have the slight idea that we’re talking about none other than the Hobart Hurricanes’ batting superstar of BBL 2024-25, Mitchell Owen. The 23-year-old created history on Monday with his both record-equalling and record-breaking 39-ball century to clinch the title for Hobart Hurricanes in the just concluded BBL 2024-25.
Speaking of the action of the BBL 2024-25’s summit clash between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder, the hosts' skipper Nathan Ellis won the toss and asked David Warner’s men to bat first. Batting first, Sydney Thunder posted a decent total of 182 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Openers, Jason Sangha and skipper David Warner played the crucial knocks of 67 and 48 runs, respectively.
Riley Meredith and skipper Nathan Ellis scalped three wickets each for the Hurricanes in the first innings at the cost of just 27 and 23 runs, respectively.
While chasing the target, Hobart Hurricanes’ star opening pair of Mitchell Owen and Caleb Jewell stitched a swashbuckling and unbelievable partnership of 109 runs in just 7.2 overs. Mitchell Owen smashed a blistering century, scoring 108 runs off just 42 balls, with six fours and 11 sixes. These knocks helped the Hurricanes to chase down the target in just 14.1 overs, scoring 185 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and winning the final by a big margin of 7 wickets.
