The match went on till the last over as Hobart Hurricanes needed 8 runs off the last over. David and skipper Nathan Ellis managed to get only a single run in the first two balls.

Now, the game came solely on the shoulders of Tim David as now, the Renegades needed 8 runs off the last 4 balls. The explosive batter managed to smash a six on the third ball of the 20th over followed by a single on the penultimate deliver to finish things in an iconic style for his side to snatch a thrilling 4-wicket win.

Speaking of the action of the entire 34th game between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades, the hosts’ skipper Nathan Ellis won the toss and asked the Renegades to bat first. Batting first, the tourists posted a total of 154 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Young middle-order batter Jacob Bethell played a blistering knock of 87 runs off just 50 balls, with eight fours and four sixes. His knock helped his side to get a decent 150+ total. Riley Meredith scalped 3 wickets for the Hurricanes in the first innings.

While chasing the target, the home team had a shaky start as they lost their top three wickets at the score of just 50 runs in 7.1 overs. But then came the crucial knocks of 36 runs each played by Nikhil Chaudhary and wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade.

Eventually, the finishing touch came from Tim David’s bat who played the decisive and unbeaten knock of 24 runs off 15 balls, with two fours and a six, alongside an ‘iconic’ finish for his side. With this win, the Hurricanes have now moved to the top spot in the tournament’s points table, with 13 points to their name.
