Wes Agar then saw Owen cart him across the park in the third over with three sixes in four balls. The over ended with Owen smashing the pacer for a four over the extra-cover region. Owen reached his fifty off just 16 balls with the boundary to record the fastest ever half-century in the history of BBL finals.

Mitchell Owen’s ton gives Hobart Hurricanes their first title win

David Warner looked clueless as Mitchell Owen smashed Nathan McAndrew for huge six after reaching his fifty. The young batter continued his onslaught against Tanveer Sangha and Chris Green to reach 76 off 27 balls at the end of the sixth over.

Tanveer Sangha brought Sydney back into the game with the wickets of Caleb Jewell and Nikhil Chaudhary in the same over. After nine overs, Hobart were placed at 118/2 and Mitchell Owen decided to take on Sangha in the final over before the drinks break.

The right-handed batter reached 94 with a huge six over mid-wicket region. This was followed by a four to reach 98 runs from 38 balls. With two runs in the next ball, Owen got to his ton off just 39 balls to equal the record for the fastest century in BBL history.

Tom Andrews finally ended the onslaught as he got the wicket of Owen caught by Hugh Weibgen. Owen was out for 108 runs from 42 balls with the help of six boundaries and 11 huge six to put the Hurricanes on the cusp of their first BBL title. Former Australian star Matthew Wade came out and scored 32 runs from just 17 balls to take the side closer. Ben McDermott then hit the winning runs as the Hurricanes celebrated their maiden Big Bash League title.
