What is Indian Cricket Team’s record in Pink Ball Test?

Team India is set to take on Australia in the second Test match scheduled to be played in Adelaide starting on December 6th. India is leading the series after their massive win in Perth by 295 runs. Jasprit Bumrah led the side well in Rohit Sharma’s absence as he led the charge with the ball. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli also scored a century to mark his return to form. 

The second Test match in Adelaide will mark the second time India gets to play a Pink Ball Test away from home. It was at the same venue in 2020 that India were bowled out for 36 to record their lowest total in Test cricket. Rohit Sharma’s side haven’t played a Pink Ball Test since 2022 and the game in Adelaide will be eagerly looked at. 

Ahead of the second Test match, Australia have been dealt with a massive blow. Pace bowler Josh Hazlewood is confirmed to miss the game due to side strain. There is also a chance that the 33-year-old could miss the rest of the series. In his place, Scott Boland is expected to play the Adelaide Test match.

Here is the Indian cricket team’s complete record in Pink Ball Test matches

Till now Indian cricket team has played four Pink Ball Test matches. The first game was in November 2019 when they played against Bangladesh in Kolkata. In the second match, India were comprehensively beaten by Australia in Adelaide. This is the same game where Josh Hazlewood picked a fifer and bundled out India for 36. 

The next two Pink Ball Test matches that India played were in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. Those matches came against England and Sri Lanka with the hosts winning by margins of 10 wickets and 238 runs, respectively.
