Indian Cricket Team is set to take on Australia during the second Test match in Adelaide. The game is set to be played under lights with India holding 1-0 lead in the series after the win in Perth. This is the second time that India will be playing a Pink Ball Test match in Australia.

The first Pink Ball Test for India during their tour of Australia came during the 2020/21 series at the same venue. In that game India were all out for 36 in the second innings to record their lowest ever total in Test cricket. Australia went onto win the match by 8 wickets and take 1-0 lead in the series.

To add more misery, Virat Kohli left the tour after the Adelaide with his first child on the way. Mohammed Shami too had to go back home after he suffered a terrible injury while batting during India’s second innings. India made a spirited comeback to win the series 2-1 with wins in Melbourne and Brisbane and a gritty draw during Sydney Test.

India’s horror show in Adelaide during 2020 Test

Virat Kohli led-India had toured Australia for 3 ODI, 3 T20I and 5 Test match series. It was a key tour with a place in the inaugural World Test Championships up for grabs. Tim Paine won the toss and chose to bowl first as India were shot out for 244 from 93.1 overs.

The best batter for India was Virat Kohli who scored 74 before he was run out. Cheteshwar Pujara batted for 160 balls to score 43 while Ajinkya Rahane scored 42 runs. Mitchell Starc grabbed 4 wickets for the hosts while Pat Cummins picked 3/48 from 21.1 overs.

In reply, Australia were all out for 191 to give India a slender lead of 53 runs. Tim Paine led the batting charts for the hosts with 73 not out from 99 balls. India dropped few key catches that allowed the Aussies to mount the fightback. R. Ashwin was India’s best bowler with 4/55 while Umesh Yadav picked 3 wickets and Jasprit Bumrah got 2.

In the second innings, it was the Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins' show as India slipped to 36/9. None of India’s batter managed to reach double figures as Mayank Agarwal’s 9 and Hanuma Vihari’s 8 was the best the visitors could muster. Hazlewood bowled 5 overs and picked 5/8 while Cummins ended with figures of 4/21.

Needing 90 to win, Australia raced home to win with 8 wickets in hand. Joe Burns scored 51 not out while Matthew Wade scored 33. The win inside two and half days to hand the visiting side their biggest loss in Test cricket history.
