India has lost 4 of its last 6 Test matches at home, three of which resulted in a whitewash against New Zealand. As India has not had a good record of turning surfaces lately, they may need to prepare good surfaces. There's a need for the batters to apply themselves better and improve their shot-making and technique against spin.

Since October 2024, India has had its worst period in Tests in the last 15 years or so. In the period, India suffered a whitewash at home for the first time in its history in a series of five matches against New Zealand. India also suffered a 1-3 loss to Australia in the BGT 2024/25.

For the first time, India failed to qualify for the WTC Final in 2025. India managed to draw the series against England 2-2, which many thought would revive its Test team. While they did beat the West Indies 2-0, India suffered a loss in the Kolkata Test against South Africa.

India's downfall in home Tests since 2024

From 2011 to 2023, in 13 years, India suffered 5 losses at home, which was a sign of its domination. Further, from February 2013 to September 2024, India suffered only four losses at home. However, from 2024 to 2025, India has suffered 5 losses already at home, which has been a concern.

The major reason behind India's downfall has been to make the most of the home advantage, which is down to poor batting performances. Despite having some credible batters, the shot selection has been bad. On good surfaces, Indian bowlers can pick wickets better than their opponents, and their batters can score runs better.
