India hasn't had success by producing turning surfaces or the surfaces with uneven bounce lately at home in Tests. India suffered the biggest humiliation in their history in Tests after suffering a whitewash against New Zealand at home in 2024. After losing the Kolkata Test in 2025 to South Africa, India is certain not to win the series, which could lead to them rethinking their strategy.
India's record in Tests has been abysmal in the last year or so. They lost to New Zealand at home, which will go down as their worst performance in a Test series. A few months later, India lost the away Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-3.

India is certain not to win the series against South Africa, following their loss in the Kolkata Test. India's only saving grace has been drawing the Test series against England. The bigger concern has been the way India is losing at home, especially with the way the batters are failing to perform as per the expectations.
Will India prepare better surfaces at home in Tests?
Once upon a time, India used to be regarded as the team with the best batters against spin. In the last year or so, the Indian team has embarrassed itself, as the top visiting teams like New Zealand and South Africa have gotten the better of them.
New Zealand's part-time spinner, like Glenn Phillips, made a difference to the eventual result. As the Indian team tends to have good batters to score runs and better bowlers to take wickets on good surfaces, the management might have to think about revising their home strategy, as the opponents have been able to dominate in their own game.
