Notably, the Indian batting stalwart has made his Ranji Trophy return after a long wait of more than 12 years since he played last in November 2012. Kohli’s presence in the Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy game pulled a massive crowd to the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which made it look like an international game.

However, Kohli failed to leave any impact with the bat on his Ranji Trophy return, he was dismissed at the single-digit score of just 6 runs off 15 balls, hitting only one four. He was dismissed in a ‘clean bowled’ by Railways bowler Himanshu Sangwan. The pacer bowled a full-length deliver outside the off stump which made Kohli try for a drive but he ended up leaving a gap between his bat and pad.

The ball went straight into the stumps and uprooted the off stump, ending Kohli’s short batting stint on his highly anticipated return to domestic cricket.

Speaking of action in the game between Delhi and Railways, the hosts’ skipper Ayush Badonni won the toss and asked the Railways to bat first. Delhi bowlers bundled out the Railways at the score of just 241 runs in the first innings., with wicketkeeper-batter Upendra Yadav scoring 95 runs followed by Karn Sharma’s 50 runs.

Navdeep Saini and Sumit Mathur scalped 3 wickets each for Delhi in the first innings, alongside two wickets each bagged by Siddhant Sharma and Money Grewal.

In response to Railways’ first-innings total of 241 runs, Delhi had scored 334 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of game’s second day. Skipper Ayush Badoni missed a well-deserved century by a narrow 1-run margin as he was dismissed at the individual score of 99 runs. Sumit Mathur went unbeaten at the score of 78 runs, alongside the lower order batter Siddhant Sharma, who was playing at 15 runs at the end of the second day.
