WATCH: TV anchor slams Pakistani player amidst rumors of rift in dressing room

Pakistan Cricket team is on the verge of an early exit from the T20 World Cup. Babar Azam’s men began the tournament with a loss to United States of America. This was followed by a loss to arch-rivals India with the Pakistanis snatching defeat from the jaws of win. 

Imad Wasim was called out for his slow batting in the game against India which contributed to the loss. One video on social media showing the innings of Imad Wasim was liked by fellow Pakistani player Iftikhar Ahmed.

This has caused a huge controversy in the Pakistani media where a TV anchor called out the veteran batter. The Anchor while speaking to the show slammed Iftikhar Ahmed and said that he shouldn’t have liked the post and showed there was a rift in the camp to the outside world. 

Pakistan’s hopes hang in the balance 

Team India became the first side from Group A to make it to the Super-8 stages on Wednesday. The men in blue beat the United States of America by 7 wickets to progress to the next round.

Pakistan still have one match to play against Ireland on Sunday in Florida. It is reported that Florida has been witnessing heavy rains which could hamper the next three matches set to be played over three successive days. 

Co-hosts USA will take on Ireland on Friday and the news is grim for the cricket fans in Pakistan. Rain is expected to hamper play once again and considering the conditions prevailing, the match could be a non-starter. 

In this case, Babar Azam and his team will bow out of the tournament as the USA will get one point to take them to 5 points. Even a win over Ireland will deny Pakistan a chance to make it to the Super-8 stages of the campaign. 

The Pakistanis have won just one game and that came against Canada earlier this week. Former skipper Salman Butt has been critical of the way Babar Azam has led his side during the current campaign. ‘

During his chat on a TV show, Salman Butt said “There is self proclamation that our captain is the king and the other is world’s best fast bowler. Sometimes we compare him with Bumrah and Babar with Kohli. You touched the ICC top ranking once, but also touch reality sometimes. Are you able to win a match on your own?
