Pakistan Cricket Team under the captaincy of Babar Azam has been struggling through a very dismal run of form in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The men in green have consecutively lost 2 out of the 2 games they have played so far in the tournament. in their campaign opener, they lost to the very lower-ranked team and co-hosts, USA.

Later in the second match, Babar Azam’s men failed to hold the nerves in the last-over thriller against the arch-rivals, India as they couldn’t chase the target of 120 runs. Eventually, Pakistan lost to India by 6 runs

Meanwhile, the former Pakistan skipper and T20 World Cup 2009 champion batter, Shoaib Malik came up with a blunt piece of advice for the current Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. Malik’s advice was not much sugarcoated as he suggested the Pakistan skipper take some bold steps and decisions for the betterment of both the team and himself as a batter.

Here's what Shoaib Malik suggested Babar Azam in his 'leave captaincy' advice

Notably, Babar Azam and co. have been receiving criticism from all angles after their poor performance and incompetence in chasing a low target against India in a must-win game.

“I have been saying for a long time, please leave captaincy. You are a class player, and you will only be able to show your class when you do not have additional responsibilities on you. If Babar stays away from captaincy, it will be good for him,” said Shoaib Malik on Ten Sports Pakistan.

“People keep talking about Babar and Rizwan's strike rates, so you brought in Saim Ayub. Yesterday, it was a 120 chase, why were you trying to improve your strike rate yesterday? The platform was set in every manner. If as a leader and a batter, your brain does kick in, in these sorts of situations, when will it? I am forced to say today that the core of this team, in the T20I format, I think we have to stop backing them,” he added later.
