The final stages of Group Phase matches of the T20 World Cup are set to take place. Florida were set to host four matches during this tournament. The first match at this venue between Sri Lanka and Nepal was abandoned due to incessant rains. It has now come to light that the situation doesn’t look promising for the next few games as well.

According to reports doing the rounds, it has come to light that an Emergency due to flash flood has been declared in Florida. It has been raining heavily since Wednesday putting civic life out of gear with the flooding situation getting worse. According to the weather data over 17 inches of rains have already called massive disruptions.

It is also being forecasted that the rains are no where near its easing phase. There is likely to be more rains on offer in the next few days which is likely to cast doubts over the future of T20 World Cup matches in Florida.

Florida’s weather set to end Pakistan’s chances?

With rains causing havoc in Florida, the T20 World Cup 2024 journey could end early for Pakistan. The former title winners need United States of America to lose their match against Ireland which is set to take place on Friday the 14th of June. If the match gets called off then USA will be given one point and they will make it to the Super 8 stages.

This will also mean an end to Pakistan, Ireland, and Canada’s chances of making it to the Super 8 stages. Babar Azam and his side themselves will face Ireland in their last Group A game on Sunday and that will be a mere formality if a favorable result doesn’t occur on Friday.

India are already through to the Super 8 stages and United States of America will look to join them in the next phase of the tournament. USA had begun the tournament with a win over Canada and followed it up with a shock win over Pakistan.

Aaron Jones and his side lost to India by 7 wickets to deal with their first loss of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Indian team too will travel to Florida as they play their final game of the Group A stages against Canada on Saturday.
