Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, were the cynosure of all eyes as they spent the evening in front of a mass gathering of fans. The men in blue had an open bus Victory Parade in South Mumbai before ending the evening in front of a full house at the Wankhede Stadium.

Tilak Varma, who has a close bond with Rohit Sharma, was spotted with select family and friends while welcoming the Indian captain back home. Rohan Gavaskar too was part of the select band as they were seen giving a salute to Rohit Sharma. This was followed with a Ric Flair style ‘Strut Walk’.

Rohit was then lifted on the shoulders and later garlanded on his emotional back home. It was an emotional and joyous evening for each and every member of Team India as well as the thousands of screaming fans out on the streets and millions watching at home.

Rahul Dravid reveals inspiring conversation with Rohit Sharma

After India’s ODI World Cup loss in 2023, Rahul Dravid decided to step down as the Indian coach. It took a persuasive call from Rohit Sharma for Dravid to return and sign an extension till the end of the T20 World Cup.

While speaking at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, Rahul Dravid recounted what Rohit Sharma had told him. “I mean, I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue after the 50 Over World Cup. There was a great joy of having had a fantastic campaign but also a little disappointment in the final that we couldn’t get over the line,” he said.

Rahul Dravid went on to say, “For Rohit to call up and say ‘Rahul let’s have another crack at it in 6 or 8 months time. It will be lovely to have a crack together.' I am so thankful because I had a chance to work with an exceptionally great bunch of boys. Truly grateful and one of the best phone calls I have received in my life.”

The Indian coach ended by saying, “I am going to miss this love, what we have seen today is phenomenal. What we have seen right from the time we have landed here, just the love of these people and fans, it is the greatest game in the world because of the fans of India.”
