There is massive bad news for cricket fans who were eagerly waiting to see Cricket action on day 2 of the Kanpur Test. The entire Indian cricket team made its way back to the hotel after the start of play was delayed due to rain. This is a fair indication that one expects the day to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.
The first day was called off due to a heavy downpour after 35 overs were bowled. Bangladesh was placed at 107/3 with Akash Deep getting two wickets. R. Ashwin got the third wicket of Najmul Shanto for 31. Openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam were the batters to be dismissed on the opening day.

Rohit Sharma had won the toss and chosen to bowl first in Kanpur. This was the first time in 9 years that an Indian skipper had taken this decision. There were no changes for Team India but the visiting side made two changes to their side. Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana were replaced by Taijul Islam and Khaled Ahmed.

What are the chances of play on last three days?
The chances of play on Sunday aren’t bright either. There is a massive downpour expected during the day. There is a 59% chance of rain predicted on Sunday which could mean that we could see play get disrupted again. The weather forecast for the rest of Saturday shows overcast conditions with a stoppage of rain post-1 PM. Play was called off just before 2 PM on Friday as both India and Bangladesh made their way off the ground.
Even if the rain does stop there is a chance that the game won't start as the ground staff will have lots of work to do. Monday and Tuesday seem the best two days for the game to progress as there is sunshine expected. That though depends on the outfield as too much dampness could potentially delay the proceedings further.
The Kanpur Test is likely to end in a draw if there is very little action. This gives India four Test matches to win to secure their top two spots in the WTC table. After this Rohit Sharma’s side will take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series. The Kiwis are currently in Sri Lanka playing their 2nd and final Test match at Galle.
