Indian skipper Rohit Sharma finally seemed to find form with the bat during the second ODI vs England. The 37-year-old was out for just two runs in the opening ODI to raise fresh concerns over his form. On Sunday, Rohit turned on his beast mode as he smashed his first six in international cricket after four months and 10 days.
The first six came in the fifth ball of the second over as Rohit just flicked Gus Atkinson over the mid-wicket region. The best shot of the game came in the second ball of the third over. Saqib Mahmood bowled a full ball outside the off-stump as Rohit reached for the ball and deposited a huge six into the extra cover region.

Rohit hit a third six that came in the second ball of the fifth over as Mahmood was smashed over the long-off region. Those three sixes took Rohit’s tally to 334 maximum in ODI cricket. Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi leads the list with 351 sixes in ODI cricket and Rohit needs 18 more to become the top six hitter in the ODI format.
Team India gets off to flying star in chase of 305-run target
England scored 304 before being bowled out in the final over of the innings. Joe Root was the best batter with his 69 runs while opener Ben Duckett scored 65 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was the best bowler for the home team with figures of 3/35 from his ten overs.
Needing 305 runs to win, India scored just one run in the first over of the innings. Gus Atkinson was hit for 12 runs in his opening over as Rohit got his first four when he stepped down the track and hit Atkinson over the backward point region.
Shubman Gill who had scored 87 in the last game got his boundary in the third over. India had raced to 30 for no loss after four overs with nine runs coming off the fifth over bowled by Mahmood. The form shown by Rohit Sharma will be a huge boost for India with the Champions Trophy just around the corner.
