Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was left in complete frustration after the wicketkeeper dissuaded him from taking a DRS against Joe Root. The incident happened in the fifth ball of the 25th over with Axar Patel bowling to the former England skipper. Root went to play the sweep and was hit on the pads.
The entire Indian team went up in huge appeal as Rohit made his way to Rahul to have a word. It was decided that it is safe not to take the review with India having lost one early in the game. When the replays came up on the big screen it was seen that the batter was out with the ball hitting the stumps.

Not a single neutral/casual take on how bad KL Rahul has been today with the gloves & his DRS calls. Same story on 19/11, yet no one mentions it. The most protected player, but people think he's the most trolled one. Lol. pic.twitter.com/oYwWKibTbd

Just two balls before the incident Joe Root had tried to play the sweep and missed the line of the ball. There was a huge appeal from the hosts as the umpire didn’t show any interest. Once the replays came it was seen that the ball was missing the stumps and if India had decided to take the DRS, the hosts would have exhausted all their reviews.
Ben Duckett’s fifty leads England to strong start
Jos Buttler decided to bat first after winning the toss, Phil Salt and Ben Duckett added 81 runs for the first wicket. The stand came in 10.5 overs with Duckett in particular showing great intent with the bat. Axar Patel dropped an easy catch in the sixth over to give Salt early life.
Debutant Varun Chakravarthy made an instant impact when he induced a wrong shot from Salt as Jadeja took an easy catch. England's opener was out after scoring 26 off 29 balls with two boundaries and a six. Duckett kept going as he scored boundaries at will before he was out in the fifth ball of the 16th over.
Duckett went for a huge slog sweep off Jadeja only to give Hardik Pandya an easy catch. The left-handed batter scored his 65 off 56 balls with ten hits to the fence. Joe Root and Harry Brook kept the scoring rate ticking with boundaries at regular intervals and also with aggressive running between the wickets.
