Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant brought India back into the contest after losing early wickets during the 1st day of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh. The two stars came together after the home team were reduced to 34/3 inside the first ten overs of the game.

On the third ball of the 16th over, Rishabh Pant decided to take a run after a mis-field. The incident happened as Pant, looking for a quick single, took a start. Jaiswal though wasn’t interested as he sent back Pant.

Sensing a chance for a run-out, Bangladeshi fielder threw the ball at the bowlers end. The back up fielder couldn’t gather the ball in time and the Indian batters went for a single. This is when Litton Das walked up to Pant and showed his displeasure at the run being taken. The Indian batter for his part didn’t budge and made his stance clear.

Indian duo bring home team back into the game

Earlier in the day, Hasan Mahmud had the Indian team in trouble with three early wickets. It was an overcast day in Chennai as the Bangladeshi team won the toss and chose to bowl.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was caught by his opposite number Shanto for 6 runs off 19 balls. Number three batter Shubman Gill was strangled down the leg-side by Mahmud as Litton Das did the rest.

Virat Kohli walked into bat as he was greeted by a huge cheer from Chennai crowd. The former Indian skipper seemed busy right from the start as he delighted the fans with few good shots. Just as Kohli was getting ready for a big innings Hasan Mahmud had him caught behind by Litton Das for 6.

The decision to send Rishabh Pant ahead of KL Rahul paid rich dividends for the Indian team. The 26-year-old playing his 1st Test match for over twenty months was busy at the crease as he played a few spectacular shots.

The Indian wicketkeeper was batting on 26 off 32 balls with 4 hits to the fence.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting well on 36 runs from 57 balls with 6 fours. The Indian team management will be hoping that the two stars can take the team to lunch without further damage.
