Team India was pegged back early in their first Test against Bangladesh as they lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the first session. Put into bat first, India were 28/2 inside 8 overs as Hasan Mahmud got both the wickets. The right-arm pacer was in good form during the series against Pakistan. Mahmud troubled Rohit Sharma in particular with the new ball.

After surviving a closer call where a LBW decision went in his favour, Rohit Sharma was seen circumspect. The Indian skipper got a ball just on the 4th stump which he edged to Shanto standing in the slips.

Shubman Gill came out to bat looking to get going early. The Indian batter was batting on 0 when he got a ball down the leg side. All Shubman Gill could do was get a thin edge as Litton Das took an easy catch.

India slumps to 34/3 inside the first hour

Bangladesh bowlers didn’t let the pressure off India with the ball swinging and seaming. Hasan Mahmud got the big wicket of Virat Kohli for 6 runs off 6 balls. The former Indian skipper went pushing at a ball and got a thick edge as Litton Das took the catch.

Virat Kohli came out with a positive mindset as he was seen attacking the Bangladeshi bowlers. This is the first Test for Kohli in over 8 months as his last game was against South Africa in Cape Town in January. At the time of writing, India were placed at 34/3 from 10 overs with Yashasvi Jaiswal batting on 17 and Pant yet to get off the mark.

With the Indian side in trouble, Rishabh Pant came out to bat at number 5 ahead of KL Rahul. The bowling by Hasan Mahmud vindicated the decision by Shanto to win the toss and bowl first.

Chennai has an unusual cloud cover and there is a lot happening on the pitch. Both sides have gone into the game with three fast bowlers. For the Bangladesh side it is Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana who are the seam bowlers. The Indian side are going in with Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj.

Here’s how the fans reacted
