India A bowlers made a tremendous comeback during the post-lunch session on the first day of the Duleep Trophy game 1 on Thursday. The crowd that had come to the Chinnaswamy Stadium went bonkers when Rishabh Pant came out to bat.

The Indian star began well as he hit a four on the very first ball that he faced. This was the first time that Rishabh Pant was batting in the red ball format since December 2022. Shubman Gill though ended Pant’s comeback with the star wicketkeeper scoring just 7 runs.

Akash Deep was bowling the 2nd ball of the 36th over as Pant tried to flick him through the leg side. The ball caught the outside edge of the bat and went high in the air. Shubman Gill had his eyes on the ball and tumbled forward and took a great catch. There was an audible groan in the crowd as Pant was out for 7 having batted for 10 balls.

Khaleel Ahmed then struck when he dismissed Jaiswal for 30 caught by substitute fielder Shaswat Rawat for 30. This brought Sarfaraz and Musheer Khan together as the brothers took India B to lunch with just two wickets down.

Just after lunch calamity struck for India B as the India A bowlers came out all guns blazing. Sarfaraz Khan was batting on 9 when he was trapped LBW by Avesh Khan to make it 67/3. It was soon 80/5 as Akash Deep removed Nitish Kumar Reddy for a first-ball duck after dismissing Rishabh Pant.
