MS Dhoni Champions Trophy Promo Photograph: (X)
Former India skipper MS Dhoni recently featured in the new promo for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Star Sports, the official broadcasters for the tournament, put out a short advert featuring the 43-year-old star. Incidentally, India’s last ICC Champions Trophy win came under MS Dhoni in 2013.
Dhoni could be seen sitting in a bathtub full of snow and was heard saying, “When I was the captain, it was easy being cool. But being a fan and watching the ICC Champions Trophy? Not possible! Teams can be strong but lose in one match and it can put an end to your campaign.”

The 43-year-old was also heard saying, “Due to tension, the temperature has risen to such a level." The funny promo saw Dhoni signal for DRS, which was rechristened to "Dhoni Refrigeration System." This funny promo has also given a glimpse of Thala before the IPL 2025 season that he is set to play for the Chennai Super Kings.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardice steps down due to the ChampionsTrophy mess?
With just a few weeks left for the massive ICC tournament set to take place, Geoff Allardice, who is ICC’s CEO, has stepped down. One of the biggest reasons behind the move is touted to be Pakistan’s underpreparedness, especially with the grounds not being ready.
Allardice put out a statement that read, “It has been a privilege to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council and I am incredibly proud of the results we have achieved, from enhancing the global reach of cricket to the commercial foundation put in place for ICC Members. I believe this is the right time for me to step down and pursue new challenges.”
PTI spoke to an unnamed ICC source who revealed, “The ICC T20 World Cup in the US was a big flop in terms of playing conditions and also it exceeded budget; the auditing is still being done. What broke the camel's back was Champions Trophy, where, as CEO, he was supposed to give a clear picture about readiness of Pakistan to host a tourney of such magnitude."
