Bumrah left behind the stunning batters Travis Head, Joe Root, and Harry Brook to gain the accolade. Now, he becomes the fifth Indian to win the award and joins legendary players like Rahul Dravid (2004), Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016), and Virat Kohli (2017, 2018). The bowler reached the fastest 200 wickets in Test cricket with a sub-20 bowling average, which is the best in the history of the game.

If we talk about the shortest format of the game, In the T20 WC, he scalped 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy of just 4.17, which was mind-blowing. He was also the Player of the Tournament, thanks to his performance. Apart from that, in red-ball cricket, he claimed 71 Test wickets in just 13 games, the highest by any bowler in 2024.
