After a year away from the training fields, MS Dhoni led the first session of the 10-day pre-season camp for the Chennai Super Kings at their High-Performance Centre. On Friday, February 28, Dhoni played a couple of huge strokes in the nets and participated in light training, looking upbeat. Dhoni tightened his defense with a few blocks before firing a few deliveries into the night sky in a video that the Super Kings posted.

During batting practice, he took on the spinners and hit the ball into the stands. After almost a year of high-intensity training, Dhoni seemed to temporarily lose his balance when trying to hit a six off a good-length ball while remaining on the back foot. The 10-day training session at the High Performance Centre would be aimed at helping Dhoni improve his batting technique. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and the majority of the Indian players are in the camp.

The session was being supervised by Sridharan Sriram, a recently hired assistant bowling coach, while head coach Stephen Fleming was away. In a touching reunion, Dhoni was joined by Ravichandran Ashwin, who hasn't played for the Super Kings since the 2015 campaign. CSK purchased Ashwin for 9.75 crore in the big auction. As the Super Kings' players connected beneath the Chennai twilight sky, Dhoni and Ashwin were also spotted having fun with a football.

Ashwin was sharp as he threw a couple of accurate off-spinners in the nets. Ashwin withdrew from international cricket halfway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Dhoni was also observed talking to Khaleel Ahmed, a left-arm bowler, and giving him advice on how to improve his technique. In the IPL 2025 super auction, CSK made some significant Indian purchases, including Rahul Tripathi and Khaleel.

Last IPL season for MS Dhoni?

When MS Dhoni arrived in Chennai, he was seen sporting a T-shirt that said "One Last Time" in Morse code, which fueled the rumors. As a result, there is now more speculation that the 2025 season may be his last IPL season. The 43-year-old Dhoni recently discussed the difficulties of getting ready for the IPL and the intense training he does in the off-season.

A day following the season opening between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on March 22, CSK will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.
